Thasunda Brown Duckett
Thasunda Brown Duckett, born on July 22, 1973, is a distinguished American businesswoman renowned for her leadership roles in various esteemed organizations. Raised in Rochester, New York, Duckett later relocated to Texas with her parents, where she attended Sam Houston High School, laying the foundation for her academic and professional journey.
Driven by a passion for finance and marketing, Duckett pursued her higher education at the University of Houston, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree. Furthering her academic pursuits, she enrolled at Baylor University, graduating with a Master of Business Administration (MBA), solidifying her expertise in the field.
Duckett’s illustrious career commenced with her role as Director of Emerging Markets at Fannie Mae, where she spearheaded initiatives to enhance homeownership among Black and Hispanic Americans, showcasing her commitment to social impact and financial inclusion.
In May 2021, Duckett ascended to the position of CEO at the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America (TIAA), marking a historic milestone as the fourth Black woman to lead a Fortune 500 company. Prior to her tenure at TIAA, she served as the CEO of Chase Consumer Banking, overseeing a vast banking network with billions in deposits and tens of thousands of employees.
Before her role at Chase Consumer Banking, Duckett held pivotal leadership positions at Chase Auto Finance and Chase Mortgage Banking, where she demonstrated her adeptness in managing large-scale operations and driving organizational growth.
Beyond her corporate endeavors, Duckett is deeply committed to philanthropy and community service. She founded and chairs The Otis and Rosie Brown Foundation, dedicated to continuing the legacy of her parents and making a positive impact on society.
In addition to her role at TIAA, Duckett serves on the boards of esteemed organizations such as Nike, Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, Sesame Workshop, and the National Medal of Honor Museum, among others.
