Lanny Smoot

Pioneering Electrical Engineer and Inventor in theatrical technology creator, scientist, and researcher with more than 100 patents.74 of his patents were created during his 25 years at The Walt Disney Company. He development of the initial high-definition, expansive video teleconferencing unit, dubbed the “VideoWindow,” which gained recognition when displayed at the Smithsonian Institution’s “Information Age” exhibit. Additionally, Smoot is credited with securing patents for early iterations of video streaming technologies. The recipient of three Thea Awards from the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), he was named a TEA Master in 2020.
