POET AND ABOLISHIONIST
FOUNDER OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF COLORED WOMEN

Mrs. Frances wrote poetry and was also known for short stories. The novel she is best known for is LOLA LEROY this was published when she was 67 years of age.
She worked with the underground railroad, lectured on abolition, and women suffrage.
She was a founder of the National Association of Colored Women and served as the first vice president of the organization.
