Celia Cruz, Queen of Salsa

October 21, 1929 -July 16, 2003

She was born on October 21, 1929 Havana, Cuba there is still questions about her exact age because it was never divulged by her. She was a Cuban singer who reigned for decades as the “Queen of Salsa Music,” electrifying audiences with her wide-ranging, soulful voice and rhythmically compelling style and flamboyant outfits and hair pieces. She was married to Pedro Knight Caraballo a trumpeter and her lifetime manager, In her later years Cruz earned renown success in the pop culture. She was the subject of a BBC documentary, My Name Is Celia Cruz (1988), and appeared in the films The Mambo Kings (1992) and The Perez Family (1995). Her autobiography, Celia: My Life (2004; originally published in Spanish), was written with Ana Cristina Reymundo. Her many honours included three Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammys for recordings such as Ritmo en el Corazón (1988) and Siempre Viviré (2000). . died July 16, 2003 Fort Lee, New Jersey she died from brain cancer in her Fort Lee, N.J., home. She was 77.

Later in years to come her husband Pedro Knight Caraballo who loved Celia unconditionally passed away at the age of 85 trumpeter, musical director and manager, born September 30 1921; died February 3 2007 in a California hospital from chronic medical illness. No other information was indicated. They are now together singing , laughing and dancing together. Rest in Peace
