Christina Mae Thomas
Christina was born in Louisiana in 1920 she was married to a jazz musician. She was a pioneer in the beautician field and left a lasting impact on the world with her invention of the hair weave. She described her method as “interweaving strands of live hair and strands of commercial hair, with cord-like material to permanently join the strands…” invented in the 1940s, involved three cords and a device called a weaving frame, allowing women to seamlessly sew switches of hair into their natural hair. It was a far contrast from the old method of attaching hair pins to the head. The person would have more of an easy flow and comfort. She was widely sought after and clients would fly her all around the world and out of the United States to teach them the method. She and her husband did own a company and
