Dr. Naresh Trehan, born in 1946 in Delhi, is one of the world’s most renowned cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgeons. With a career spanning several decades, Dr. Trehan has made a profound impact on both Indian and global healthcare. He earned his medical degree from King George’s Medical College in Lucknow, and soon after, he moved to the United States to further his training. Dr. Trehan spent 17 years at the New York University Medical Center, where he honed his skills in cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgery, becoming a leading figure in the field.

In 1988, Dr. Trehan returned to India, driven by a mission to advance the quality of healthcare in his home country. He founded the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre in New Delhi, which quickly became one of India’s most prestigious heart institutes, recognized for its state-of-the-art care and innovative techniques in cardiac surgery. His leadership and vision in establishing Escorts Heart Institute transformed cardiac care in India, making high-quality, advanced heart surgery accessible to patients from across the country and beyond.

Currently, Dr. Trehan is the Chairman and Managing Director of Medanta – The Medicity, a multi-specialty hospital located in Gurugram, Haryana, which he founded in 2009. Under his leadership, Medanta has grown into one of India’s leading medical institutions, offering cutting-edge treatments and comprehensive care across various medical specialties. Medanta has earned a reputation for being a hub of medical innovation and excellence, and Dr. Trehan has been pivotal in integrating new technologies into heart surgeries, including robotic and minimally invasive techniques.
