2017 89th Academy awards makes history with five wins in major category awarded to black actors.
2017 night at the 89th OSCAR ACADEMY AWARDS was a major history maker. The show record-breaking win for the first time in the nation’s history awarded five awards in the following categories to “MOONLIGHT” writers with Barry Jenkins and Tarell Alvin McCraney won for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture.
Viola Davis won for the best supporting actress in her role in “Fences” based on August Wilson Play.
Mahershala Ali made history as the first muslim to win, Won for Best Supporting Actor in ‘MoonLight”.
Ezra Edelman the director of “O.J. made in America won the Academy award for Best Documentary feature.
To note the cast of “Hidden Figures” did a special presentation the night by bringing out one of the film’s true-life inspirations, NASA scientist Katharine Johnson which photo is also featured.
